Background

TestPros’ IV&V and Testing (IVV&T) approach delivers a test strategy based on the risk profile of each tested system, providing objective information to support deployment decisions, verify that the system meets the organization’s functional, technical, and operational acceptance criteria/requirements, and reduces the risk of defects and vulnerabilities reaching the production environment. We built our approach based on IEEE std 1012-2016, IEEE Standard for System, Software, and Hardware Verification and Validation. We deliver the approach using the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI PMBOK) for project management, ITIL2017 for IT Service Management (ITSM), and CMMI L3-aligned standard operating procedures to provide a solid foundation of repeatable best practices.

The larger or more complex the project the more important it is that approved processes and procedures are implemented. TestPros will assess your draft or approved processes and procedures. We have the unique ability to provide critical independent verification and validation support to a wide range of processes ranging from configuration management and test to CPIC and EVMS.

Approach

Our audit approach is based on IEEE standards and best practices, is supported by formal configuration management and version control of all artifacts and uses DoD-style bottom-line up front (“BLUF”) reporting to facilitate our client’s decision making. The following detailed description of work highlights our Auditing experience and approach for a representative contract.

Using Quality Assurance (QA) and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) standards and guidelines, TestPros tailors our oversight processes to assist leadership in ensuring that their application, policies, and/or processes accomplish the objectives for which they were established. We accomplish this through analysis of the strategies, processes and plans developed by organizations’ program offices, and assessments of requirements, design, architecture, systems, software, data, infrastructure (including Cloud), integration and external interfaces, and compliance with regulations, recommendations, and policies. In addition, our QA/IV&V processes are used to analyze project deliverables, artifacts, and project management processes and to verify solutions are implemented according to defined processes and perform as expected.

Benefits

TestPros QA and IV&V services provide management and technical benefits that result in reduced programmatic and technical risk and increased probability of program success. Problems and risks are identified early in each program and can be fixed and mitigated with the least impact to cost, schedule, and performance.

The process component of our IV&V framework covers quality assurance activities required, as well as applicable IEEE standards. We work closely with customer groups to validate adherence to life-cycle processes. We evaluate each project’s Quality Control (QC) Plan against applicable EA and IEEE standards to ensure establishment of the goals, processes, and responsibilities required to implement effective quality assurance functions for each program. We systematically monitor and evaluate all products, processes, and services to ensure they meet requirements and comply with DHS policies, standards, and procedures, as well as applicable IEEE standards.
